Mr. Boaz holds a BM and MM in Piano Performance from Indiana and the University of Houston, respectively. During his graduate studies, he taught as an assistant professor of group piano, and enjoyed a fellowship as lead pianist for the University of Houston’s Symphony Orchestra and Wind Ensemble. He was also a guest performer with the university’s Graduate Woodwind Quintet and members of the Houston Symphony.  

During his professional years in Houston, Mr. Boaz was active as musical director, guest artist, composer, and arranger for numerous regional theaters and companies in the area. These include Stages Repertory Theatre, Texas Repertory Theatre, Imperial Center for the Arts, Lonestar Lyric, Standing Room Only Productions, A.D Players, Queensbury Theatre, & Terrace Theatre Works.

 

He recently completed a 3-year residency as musical director for the Second Baptist Academy of Houston’s Fine Arts Department. Here he served as full-time music supervisor, associate conductor, vocal coach, and assistant choral director for the academy’s theatre and choral programs.

As a composer, Mr. Boaz’s most recent original full-length theatrical work, Heartbreak USA, took the award for Best New Musical of 2016 with the Houston Broadway Awards, an honor he shared with local playwright Michael Weems. 

Mr. Boaz currently stays busy with a full-time performance schedule as guest artist with Norwegian and Holland-America Cruise Lines. He has entertained audiences throughout the globe on board the Norwegian Bliss, the Ms. Noordam, the Ms. Prinsendam, and coming up in September, the Ms. Zaandam.
