Hailing from San Diego, California, Mr. Boaz maintains an active schedule as guest artist and entertainer throughout the United States and abroad, working alongside numerous companies such as Norwegian Cruise Lines, Holland-America, Billboard On Board, and the Kalahari Convention Center and Resorts.

Mr. Boaz holds a BM and MM in Piano Performance from Indiana and the University of Houston, respectively. During his graduate studies, he taught as an assistant professor of group piano, and enjoyed a fellowship as lead pianist for the University of Houston’s Symphony Orchestra and Wind Ensemble. He was also a guest performer with the university’s Graduate Woodwind Quintet and members of the Houston Symphony.  

After completing his graduate studies, Mr. Boaz spent an extensive amount of time in Houston, Texas, where he enjoyed ongoing appointments as musical director and artist in residence for organizations such as the Imperial Center for the Arts, Stages Repertory Theatre, The Queensbury, and the Miller Outdoor Theatre. 

 

He’s also enjoyed his time in academia, having recently completed a 3-year residency as musical director for the Second Baptist Academy of Houston’s Fine Arts Department. Here he served as full-time music supervisor, associate conductor, vocal coach, and assistant choral director for the academy’s theatre and choral programs.

As a composer, Mr. Boaz’s most recent original full-length theatrical work, Heartbreak USA, took the award for Best New Musical of 2016 with the Houston Broadway Awards, an honor he shared with nationally-renowned playwright, Michael Weems. 

2023 will be another busy year for Mr. Boaz as he continues his engagements with the Kalahari resorts and the dueling piano shows of Billboard On Board.
